The fun in Hay continues

Wednesday dawned a hot day in Hay, and our kids club started the morning in the Hay park and the surrounding pavilion. Despite the heat the kids turned out in force with many parents in tow, where many games were played , and songs were sung. They learnt from the bible - how Jesus healed the paralysed man who was brought to Jesus by his friends lowered through the roof.

Thanks to the lovely Hay uniting church friends who supplied a great morning tea, and kept us cool with icy drinks whilst the kids spent the morning in the sun. Wednesday kids club finished with a  science magic show ......gee it was fun to see the vinegar rocket explode all over Ed's trusty sidekick Naomi !!!! The kids also enjoyed an assortment of sideshow alley games, and all got a showbag and snow cone.

The EAC team enjoyed the Wednesday afternoon visiting a local farm in  the town of Maude and mixed with the locals over a BBQ dinner at the Maude Pub.

Thursday kids club saw us back in the local hall - this was a great blessing since the gale force winds that sprung up last year, returned to Hay last evening. The antics of Side Show Syd and the whole circus crew enthralled the kids during the morning and the kids bible lesson focused on Jesus' work on the Cross. As the photos show we are having a busy but great time.

Thursday saw the women from EAC host an afternoon tea at our accommodation at Claughton House. It was a great time relax and the women of Hay seemed to really enjoy the opportunity for fellowship and great conversation. We really enjoyed getting to know the women of Hay better.

As our time with the kids of Hay draws to a close we would appreciate continued prayer. We are thankful for the conversations we are having with the people in the town, we have been so welcomed by the people of Hay, and its been so encouraging to see God at work here this week.

Kids Club runs smoothly for two days

Well, the activities began on Monday and we have been going gang busters ever since.

Over 27 kids from Hay turned up bright and early on the Monday morning, and really enjoyed the circus themed activities. The kids have loved starting the morning with games, and singing. And the Drama has proved very popular, with the kids loving the antics Strong Man Dave, Marvelous Moe with his fleas circus, Daisy the tightrope walker , Glenn the lion tamer, Sideshow Syd and the Ringmaster. The Bible story for the day was The Lost Sheep. The kids from Engadine loved catching up with the mates they made last year, so all in all a fantastic start.

The youth Cafe also went well, we did not have a massive crowd from Hay, however it was great for the small crowd that came- they had excellent fellowship and relaxed in a wonderfully decorated hall.

Day 2 started brilliantly with over 40 kids from Hay coming to the kids club. The antics with Sideshow Syd and Strong Man Dave kept the kids entranced throughout the drama, and the Kids learnt lots about Gods great love and forgiveness as they went through the Prodigal Son.

We enjoyed a spectacular morning tea provided by the lovely ladies from Hay Anglican over the past few days.

For our friends back home we have been very grateful for all the  prayer support, and would appreciate your prayers, especially tomorrow as we won't be in the community hall and will be holding most activities in the Hay Park and surrounds. We are confident of good weather so we are praying for a good bunch of kids attending too!

One week to go!

We have a week before our kids club begins, and about 5 days before most of us begin our journey!

So what do our friends in Hay need to know?

Baptist Church -Hay

Hay Anglican Church
Well you might see us visiting your local churches on Sunday the 22nd of September, if you do see us come up and say hi, we would love to meet you.

The Kids Club starts on Monday the 23rd- start rolling up with the kids at 9.30 at Hay Park, where the fun will begin.  Games, bible stories, music, drama and craft will be the order of the day. Not to mention a first rate morning tea.

This year we also hope to meet some of the youth of the town. Each evening there will be a youth cafe at the Anglican church hall. There will be free food and drinks... hot pancakes each night, music, there will be activities for those who want to take part, or if you like just to hang and chat in a safe fun environment, the hall will be the place to be!

So what do our friends back home need to know?

The team have been overwhelmed by the generosity of  the EAC community who are sending us off so well equipped and provided for! Blog reports will happen daily once we are down in Hay- you are welcome to follow the progress of the Hay Kids Club on this website.

Anything else?

Well we appreciate prayers for this week particularly.....

  • All the final preparations of the team are completed smoothly
  • For team members who will be taking time away from their usual employment to visit Hay. That they can complete will their existing work this week, so they don't have to be concerned about the work left undone back in Sydney whilst they are down in Hay.
  • For good health in these last days before we travel

So, what sort of things to expect at the Kids Holiday club this year?

Thinking about letting the kids come to the Hay kids holiday club and not sure what to expect?? We are going to have similar timetable to last year.

Most days ( Sept  23-27)  we will meet at the community hall at Hay Park, you can start dropping the kids off  from 9.30am

For the next few hours the kids have great fun singing, playing games, they can complete some craft, and they will able to learn about God through great Bible stories, music and drama. The kids will have great fun with their friends, and through the week they will be able to make new ones too! The activities are perfect for both girls and boys of various ages (K-6). All activities are monitored by our team -who have completed a child safety course.

A highlight is also the spectacular morning tea put on by the combined churches from Hay. Mums and dads are welcome to stay for a cuppa and chat with the other mums and dads too. The activities will wind up each day at 12.30pm .

We are very busy with the preparations for our week of fun in Hay.... and look forward to seeing you all soon.
